What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a unique system that utilizes clear, removable tooth aligners that are comfortable to wear, custom fit for you and virtually invisible to other people. They are used in a series throughout treatment to gradually straighten your teeth. No more hiding your smile during treatment! Made with 3-D imaging technology, Invisalign is highly effective and a great option for many patients.
Why Invisalign?
Unlike braces, Invisalign does not limit the types of food you can eat. Because Invisalign aligners are removable, you take them out to eat and drink, as well as to brush and floss. No more difficult food removal or cleaning problems. In addition, there are no metal bands or wires that can cause sores in your mouth, so they are very comfortable to wear. Additionally, you can see how your teeth will move and look at the end of treatment before you even begin!
How does Invisalign Work?
Impressions of your teeth are taken at our office and sent to Invisalign along with the orthodontic treatment plan. Invisalign then converts the impressions into a 3-D model. Teeth are incrementally moved on the model as prescribed by the doctor and a series of trays are fabricated.
Three sets of aligners are delivered at a time. Each set of aligners is worn full-time for two weeks, except when you remove them to eat, brush and floss. Every 6 weeks, you will have an appointment to check that you are progressing well and are given 3 more sets of aligners. The average number of aligners needed is 18 to 30, and the average duration is 9 to 15 months. Treatment time will vary depending on patient cooperation and the complexity of the case.
